Atelier Viollet recently fabricated this cabinet designed by Gregory Gilmartin of Peter Pennoyer Architects. Inspired by Jean-Michel Frank‘s notable fan-patterned straw marquetry furniture, his classic gold-toned pieces were replaced in favor of a more subdued, natural palette. The cabinet emphasizes various motifs as the pieces of straw are adhered in different directions. These alternating fan and linear patterns create an overall playful and visually stimulating composition.
