Today we’d like to share the last set of images from one of Atelier Viollet‘s collectible series: Ensemble Mobilier: Exposition Internationale 1925 by Maurice Dufrene. This three book folio series, originally published in 1926, shows interiors designed by a myriad of renowned designers for the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs Modernes (Art Exposition of 1925) in Paris. See the previous blog post about this series here.
Maurice Dufrene was a noteworthy early 20th century designer who made an impression in the world of both modern and art deco furniture. When he was young, he pulled together scraps of materials from his father’s wholesale company and created pieces in his own atelier. His pieces embodied a modern style and easily transitioned into Art Deco. Dufrene used a wide assortment of materials, such as glass, ebony, and ivory, which contributed to his elegant designs. Continuing forward in the design world, he grew to be a valuable part of the industry as an established furniture designer and artistic decorator. His interiors in the 1925 Exposition were innovative, showing sophisticated varieties of rooms.
